Not all who wander are lost

I  took a long and meandering journey to counseling; having explored careers in middle and high school science teaching, working as a professional chemist, and teaching yoga. Along this journey, I discovered a true passion for helping people live their best lives through deepening their self-understanding and forging new ways of thinking that better serve each individual.

So that no day is ever boring, I enjoy the variety of working with individuals of any age, gender identity, culture, and background. In particular, I have over 6+ years of experience working with teens, my strong memories of this time in my life make forging strong connections with youths nearly effortless, allowing me to provide them with critical support during their often difficult years.

I consider myself a wounded healer who believes that change best occurs through empathetic collaboration in a safe and non-judgmental space. Whether someone is just looking to talk, explore their identities, struggling with depression or anxiety, or to work through past trauma; I am here to help clients manifest their life worth living.

Outside of the box healing

My superpower is utilizing my neurodivergence, scientific training, unique understanding of each client, and outside of the box thinking to work with clients in novel ways that lead to real change. However, it is my compassion and ability to meet people where they are that I feel really set me apart as a therapist.

In counseling I frequently weave together solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodrama, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to create a personalized treatment for each unique individual. As a certified yoga instructor I have seen the power of mindfulness and movement in individuals' transformation and I enjoy bringing these tools into the therapeutic setting to improve outcomes.  I believe in the immense power of the therapeutic relationship to allow individuals the opportunity to share and rework their stories leading them towards living more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

When not working

Outside of the office, I have two modes: lazy or adventurous. On my days off, I can most often be found engaging my inner house cat by cozying with my cats and dogs. When not trying to win the prize for laziest human, I can be found out seeking novel experiences through travel, exploring the outdoors, trying new food, or looking for the newest pop up experience. I believe that my passion for yoga comes from its ability to engage me in both modes in a single hour, or less.

I have training in:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

  • Somatic (body) Interventions
